Haugh of Urr Nursery is a small, rural nursery delivering pre-school education and care to children aged between 3yrs to school age, with a service also available to eligible 2yr olds. We service the community of the Haugh of Urr village and surrounding areas including Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie.

Our Aims and Objectives 

To provide a safe and secure play and learning environment to develop positive relationships, foster potential and increase independence, self esteem and confidence in preparation for life. 

To provide a wide range of learning activities and experiences within a mixed age setting based on the early level stage of Curriculum for Excellence and Pre-Birth to Three.

To encourage independence and freedom of choice. 

To provide a stimulating and challenging environment specific to each child’s need and stage of development which encourages the child to explore, discover, question and problem solve, ensuring they reach their individual potential 

To encourage children to evaluate their own learning which will assist them to move forward
